LACP “Project 2022”

Has juror Ann Jastrab lost her mind?! She included my work in the Los Angeles Center of Photography “Project 2022” Exhibition! All kidding aside, I am grateful to Ann and LACP for this opportunity to showcase my Folding and Mending project - a response to our climate crisis. And I’m honored to be on this list of artists whose work I admire. If you are in the LA area on 12/15/22, stop by the pop-up exhibition at the LACP Holiday Party. But definitely take some time to view Ann’s statement and images from these 10 incredible projects online - through February 2023 at this link

Selected from my “Folding and Mending” Project

Edge of Humanity Magazine

Editor and Curator Joelcy Kay contacted me about featuring my photographs in Edge of Humanity Magazine, an online publication that promotes visual and literary arts. I was pleasantly surprised that she chose images from “Transcendance,” a series from a few years back inspired by a collection of masks I inherited from my mother. The project is about trance dancing and the use of masks in tribal rituals. Long exposures in the images create a blur with the dance movement, a metaphor for the passage through time in which Spirit and ancestry are one – an eternally evolving line of genetic connection and wisdom.

Many thanks to Joelcy Kay for featuring my work!
