Volume 7: "The Hipstamatic"

September 2019

Since my work is primarily digital, I spend some time each year exploring new technical tools and apps. This summer,  I began using the iPhone App "Hipstamatic." This tool offers a wide variety of built-in filters for both color and black and white and the result can be processed and edited like any other digital image.  I found a combination of filters that creates a soft, vintage look that captures the mood I was looking to express in these outdoor images.

I like the way the various shapes and textures in these succulent studies are rendered with a subtle effect rather than in sharp definition.

The arched lines attracted me in these two images.  The one on the right is titled "Arc de Tree."

This year appears to have "trees" as a theme for me and exploring them with the Hipstamatic is expanding my vision, especially using the square format.

What do you think?
