Reflections 2019

Welcome to "Reflections 2019," my online photo journal for sharing thoughts, "sketches," and works in progress. These images may be new ideas I am exploring, creative inspirations from books, workshops, museums, music... or they may simply be captures of an extraordinary moment that caught my eye in the course of the day. All part of my creative process, as it is for most artists and photographers. I invite you to share your thoughts about these posts via my Contact Form.

Volume 2: "Between Breaks"

February 2019

After the release of the first ChromaSynthesis Collection,  I am continuing to explore duality in nature through the fusion of color and monochrome.  In this case, it is the friction between wind and water, creating the crests and troughs of ocean waves.

Cross Currents

Sea Spray #2

As the swells reach shallow water at the shoreline, the waves slow down.  In the surf zone, the back of the wave is moving faster than the front, becoming higher and higher until it breaks.

Wavelength

Color makes connections within an image… like a visual path between elements that resonate with each other.  Or color might be the softer, restful element that contrasts against stronger, more dynamic black and white areas of the photograph.

Between Breaks

Turbulence

I plan to add a second collection to the ChromaSynthesis Gallery later this year that will include these images.  Meantime, stay tuned for more work in progress.
