Reflections 2017
Welcome to "Reflections 2017," my online photo journal for sharing thoughts, "sketches," and works in progress. The images may be from a photography workshop, new ideas I am exploring, creative inspirations from books, movies, museums, music... or they may simply be captures of an extraordinary subject or moment that caught my eye in the course of the day. All part of my creative process, as it is for most artists and photographers. I invite you to share your thoughts about these posts via my Contact Form.

February 5, 2017 Rainy Nights
It's been a rainy winter in Central California, a hopeful respite from the drought and a setting to explore the slick, wet city streets. My impressions:
The energy of the city at night... a disparate interplay... of darkness and light... Mystery and Intrigue follow shadowy figures... passing through iridescent rays, reflections... into inky obscurities
Rainy Nights
by Irene Thompson
I like the town on rainy nights, When everything is wet -- When all the town has magic lights And streets of shining jet! When all the rain about the town -- Is like a looking-glass, And all the lights are upside down -- Below me as I pass. In all the pools are velvet skies, And down the dazzling street A fairy city gleams and lies In beauty at my feet.
January 1, 2017 In Retrospect...SF MOMA
2017 has arrived! May it bring health, peace, joy, and inspiration to one and all!
In retrospect, 2016 was not my favorite year on the planet for reasons both personal and political. That said, one of the highlights for me last year was a visit to the newly re-opened San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SF MOMA). I was as inspired by the building's architecture as I was by the incredible collection of art and photography within. Here are just a few memorable images.
