EURYTHMICS

"Dancing is a form of rhythm...

Rhythm is a form of music...

Music is a form of thought...

Thought is a form of divinity."

- A.L. Baldry

"Eurythmics," a term most often associated with a 1980s British rock band is derived from Greek roots. An adjective meaning "beautiful or harmonious rhythm, it was first used by ancient Greek and Roman architects in reference to building design. Later it was adapted in English to describe "rhythmic movement and graceful carriage of the body."

As dancers interpret the rhythm of musical compositions, the dynamics and nuances of their movements express ideas and emotions. The focus of the works in these galleries is to capture the eurythmics of the dancers, even in a state of repose.
